The Grey Guardian

On Yggdrasil, the honored dead play a special role in saving the living from utter destruction. The universal belief is that the spirits of the dead all eventually make the long journey down passed the Garden That Was to the very heart of things, The Prison. There, They weighs your soul, and if you are found wanting, you become another link in Goliat’s chains. If worthy, you are sent back to live once more in the hope that you will continue to make Yggdrasil a worthy place for all.

Necromancers pervert this cycle by using the unwary dead, and so Beli demanded its end. But even an immortal cannot stop people from being born with this power. You were born with this power, only you took your own path, becoming something other than a necromancer. You hear the cries of restless spirits, and instead of using them or destroying them, you fight to free them from their chains.
